La Jolla. Seriously, the gem of San Diego. Now I know that some people may disagree because they think it is stuffy and pretentious, but I don’t see it that way. Maybe, I’m just biased because it is where the hubby and I got married on the beach. Or maybe I choose to focus on the positives that La Jolla has to offer. You can’t help but be happy, even on the shittiest of days, being in La Jolla.

So, a lonely Sunday in January, it was sunny and over 60 degrees and I knew I wanted two things: bloody marys and a view of the ocean. Yes, sometimes I drink alone, don’t judge me. I found the perfect spot in La Jolla, with bloodys and a view; Duke’s. Duke’s is super dope. Three levels, all with killer views of La Jolla Cove. On sunny days, you can see the mountains in Orange County. Quite spectacular. I recently took my girlfriends and they loved it, made friends with the bartender, and have gone back since!

Duke’s bloody mary is simple but rich in flavor. Only consisting of a few ingredients, Duke’s uses only local and sustainable ingredients, organic when possible. Duke’s uses Demitri's Bloody Mary Seasoning, which is made with all natural ingredients. giving the bloody a fresh and sweet taste. The seasoning has subtle horseradish taste and a tame spice factor.

To complement the Demitri's, Duke's La Jolla uses St. George's Green Chili Vodka. St. George's contains serranos and bell peppers, layered with notes lime and cilantro, a true California palette. St. George's brings the depth of this bloody mary flavor to the next level. The bloody is sweet and savory with a final pop of heat from the vodka, that leaves you wanting more. It is not difficult to drink the entire bloody in just a few minutes. To top off the bloody, sticking with the Hawaiian theme, the rim is salted with black lava salt and served in the cutest tiki glass. My table was right up on the glass overlooking the cove. As I drank my bloody and stared out into the ocean, I couldn't help but smile.

I 100% recommend Duke’s for their bloody marys. I’ve been several times now and I can’t see myself not going back soon. The vibe is relaxed with an Aloha spirit and the views are truly breathtaking, some of the best for La Jolla dining. If bloody marys aren’t your thing I would also recommend the lavender colada! So insanely good!
