Brunchfaced: Where to Brunch for a Relaxing Weekend

Whoaaaa, June is OVER? Already? Where has the time gone!? With the 4th of July coming up next week, I wanted to pick a few spots for you guys that are a bit more relaxing and chill! Both spots have a great outdoor patio, by the beach, that are family friendly Here’s are my top 2 picks to get brunchfaced in a chill and relaxing kinda way!

Wheat & Water - Bird Rock

Maybe one of the best-kept secrets in San Diego for Sunday brunch, Wheat & Water is the perfect spot to grab some friends and family and bring along your kiddos and furry friends for a chill brunch by the beach!

Wheat & Water’s award-winning wood-fired pizza is the perfect remedy to any ailing hangovers. But with hangovers aside, who doesn’t want pizza for breakfast?? You really can’t go wrong with any of the pizzas but for brunch purposes go with the Bird Rock Breakfast Pizza with béchamel, mozzarella, smoked bacon, eggs, and cherry tomato, or spice things up with the Mexican Breakfast Pizza with mozzarella, spicy sausage, eggs, cojita cheese, jalapeño, cheery tomato, caramelized onion and cilantro. SO GOOD!!!

On my latest visit I was in major need of some protein so I decided on the Bacon-Onion Jam Burger. This gigantic burger is made with a half-pound all-natural Angus beef, bacon onion jam, white American cheese, house-made pickles (extra pickles for me) and roasted garlic aioli on a brioche bun more than satisfied my hunger! I added the fried egg on top because I love eggs on burgers!! I’m usually unimpressed with burgers but I can’t say enough how delicious this burger was!

Wheat & Water has some really simple yet really effective hangover-curing cocktails like the Penicillian No. 2, Super Cute, and the Whiskey Smash but you know I went for the bloody mary! I like bold and spicy bloody marys so I choose the spicy vodka option but you can also get it in spicy tequila and make it a bloody Maria! Wheat & Water’s house-made mix is refreshing, citrus forward, and has just the right amount of spice that doesn’t overpower your meal!

Sbicca - Del Mar

Nestled in the quiet yet bustling center of Del Mar, one block from the ocean is Sbicca in Del Mar. My favorite place to grab a seat is on the front patio with ocean views. Even though it is small, it never feels crowded and there’s a relaxed vibe with a calm ocean breeze and salty air!

For a savory and yummy start to your brunch, order Sbicca’s soft and fluffy popovers. For your main dish, I highly recommend the Sbicca omelet with 3 eggs, tomatoes, bacon, cilantro, and cheddar! Although omelets aren’t always the most insta-worthy dishes, they have always been my favorite breakfast dishes! You won’t be let down with the Short Rib Hash and Eggs made with  two eggs any style with sautéed peppers and onions, breakfast potatoes, sliced tomatoes & mushroom cream sauce. Yummmy! If you’re feeling more lunchy than brunchy go with the Blackened Local Fish Sandwich or the BBQ Chicken Tortilla Salad!

Wash down all that delicious food with The Ultimate Bloody Mary! Topped with veggies, meats and a few slices of bacon, the smooth and flavorful mix makes for the perfect cocktail to pair with your brunch!
