Brunchfaced: Summer is on it's way, weekend brunch guide

No more RAIN!!!! It might still be a little foggy this weekend, but finally, for the foreseeable future, the rain went back to wherever it came from! Summer is finally on it’s way!! Here’s my top picks on where to get brunchfaced on this rain-free weekend!!

The Cottage - La Jolla

One of the most adorable and cozy spots in La Jolla, The Cottage is the perfect place for family gatherings. Grab a seat on their patio or head inside for a more intimate and cozy brunch. Egg-cellent egg dishes include the Wild Mushroom Omelets with goat cheese, spinach, and roasted shallots, Monterrey Scramble scramble with bacon, cheddar cheese, green chilie, pico de gallo, black beans, served with cottage potatoes and a side of corn tortillas or the Salmon Benedict "Wild" salmon filet, poached egg, sautéed spinach, garlic, Hollandaise - over rosemary olive oil bread. Savor the bacon and shrimp topped Bloody Mary or a keep it clean with a juice from their juice bar.

Half Door Brewing Co. - East Village

The Padres are back in town! One of my favorite spots around Petco Park is Half Door Brew Co. Half Door’s turn-of-the-century house turned brewery owned by the Drayne family is a little slice of Ireland in the East Village. I love to sit on the top floor porch with views of Petco Park before a game and nosh on brunch treats such as the scotch egg and the best pretzels in town (salted pretzel bites). A spin on chowder in bread bowls, Half Doors Breakfast in Bread, ingredients are baked into a warm and toasty bread bowl, then topped with an over easy egg; options include the veggie, chipotle, and classic! Any beer brewed by Half Door will satisfy your palette but Half Door also has a variety of hand-crafted Irish-inspired brunch cocktails including a hair of the dog house-made Bloody Mary and the Irish coffee.

The Roxy Encinitas - Encinitas

Located on the bustling Main Street of Encinitas, The Roxy’s 20’s inspired digs and live acoustic music makes it the perfect place for Sunday Funday! A from-scratch kitchen delivers delicious brunch options such as the Breakfast Mac & Cheese with smoked gouda, caramelized onion, and scrambled eggs, Croissant Breakfast Sandwich with cheddar, avocado, onion, tomato and smothered in an onion bacon aioli, or the Belgian Waffles with your choice of meat, maple butter, and fresh berries. If you’re up for really getting #brunchfaced order  Everything but the Kitchen Sink Bloody Mary: 24oz made from scratch bloody mary, topped with... lemon, lime, olive, pickle, pepperoncini, onion, celery, cheeseburger slider, buffalo chicken tender, shrimp, thick cut pepper bacon, and yes served with a mini miller high life, one of my top bloody marys in San Diego!
