Summer in Minnesota is quiet a beautiful thing. Lush green trees line the streets, the 10,000 lakes are hopping with boats and beach parties, rooftop bars are rocking and oh, it’s not -20 degrees outside! Yes, it really gets that cold in the winter, hence the reason I now live in San Diego.
It was a beautiful Sunday morning in Minneapolis and we decided to spend the day in Uptown. After a few hours of shopping, (because shopping is so tiring) I was fairly parched and that pesky hunger monster was starting to come out so we decided to stop in Uptown Tavern. Since it was such a beautiful day we sat on the rooftop patio.
Gorgeous views of uptown, sunshine, and extremely good and cheap bloody marys! Their build you own bloody mary bar is only $5.00 on Saturday and Sundays from 10am-2pm! Now that’s a damn bargain! You could get 3 for the price of 1 at some other places I’ve been on my bloody adventures. For being that cheap you think they’d use a store-bought mix but they make their own Tavern house-made mix with vodka that is pepper infused! It was light and thin so it went down smoothly and quenched my thirst. Very sweet tasting, which I’m not opposed to, especially in the heat of summer. The only downside is being on the patio you must go down two flights of stairs to get to the bloody bar and then carry it back up when it is overflowing with goodies, safety first people!
The bloody bar has some great options, lots of different hot peppers, lots of cheeses, some meats, a wide variety of hot sauces, and lots of veggies. Being it was hot I kept mine simple with a few veggies and cheeses.
So, if you are in Uptown with a group of friends and enjoy patio life or someone looking for a great bloody on a budget, I would most definitely recommend Uptown Tavern!
