The Carnivore at 1909 Temecula
What do you think of when you think of Temecula? I would suspect wine country would be your answer. That would’ve been my answer until recently when I had the opportunity to go to 1909 Temecula in Old Town! It was my first visit to Old Town, and I was completely swept up in the charm and buzz of this old western city!
I was beyond excited to arrive at 1909 Temecula as they have an entire bloody mary menu, including a gargantuan bloody with toppings galore and a bloody mary cart that comes to your table, bartender included! It was definitely an awesome first-time experience for me!
I decided to start out big with The Carnivore Bloody. This bloody is a meat lover’s dream; topped with, you guessed it, lots of meat! First, The Carnivore is topped with some traditional skewer treats like cheese, garlic, olive, and pepperoncini; then there are not one, but two slices of crispy bacon and two chicken wings! The chicken wings looked so amazing, I had to have one (despite not eating chicken for an entire year prior). I was not let down; they are juicy and have a delicious sun-dried tomato rub with a crunchy skin. If all that beef and chicken wasn’t enough, why not wash it down with bacon-infused vodka through a beef jerky straw!!! That’s right, a beef jerky straw, from the local jerky maker!
Not only is this Bloody topped with meaty goodness, the flavor of the bloody its self is amazing. There are 30+ ingredients in this house-made mix. A Clamato-tomato juice blend that is smoky, rich, savory, peppery and has the perfect amount of garlic. The smokiness and heat come from paprika and other fresh Cajun spices. The spices come locally sourced from the spice maker down the street; so awesome! The bloody mix tastes as though the ingredients were cooked on a campfire or a wood-burning stove. Not only is the taste smoky, but the fresh citrus makes the bloody zesty! You would think with 30+ ingredients in the mix may have too many flavors happening, but everything blends and balances together perfectly; so delicious! The Carnivore is a meal in a glass to the fullest!
